£800 raised for charity
Our Sun, Moon, Sea and Stars concert in Didsbury was one of the Chorale’s best concerts ever. There was a substantial and appreciative audience, a lovely, varied programme and some fine performances from the choir that all helped to create a positive and uplifting mood for the evening. Reports from this writer’s family and friends in the audience were very complimentary, with everyone choosing a different favourite piece of music. The most frequently mentioned, however, was The Blooming Bright Star of Belle Isle by Debra Scroggins.
The total sum raised for the Freedom from Torture Charity from ticket sales, bucket donations and sales of refreshments was £800 – a considerable amount for one evening. The Charity was delighted.
The choir must have been overcome with emotion by the end of it – the lost and found email the following day mentioned a suitcase, music folders and music books, a jumper and lots of jewellery!
Thirty-six hours later, a smaller Chorale force was back at the same venue, Emmanuel Church, for the BBC Daily Service where we exhorted Satan to Go’way.
