Christmas has passed, our thanks to John, new music
Well Christmas was hectic – four concerts in two weeks, three of those at the Bridgewater in the week up to Christmas Eve.
Lesley had her photo taken with Alan Titchmarsh; the fire alarm went off at the end of the Christmas Spectacular concert (will there be another pyrotechnic display next year?); Zoe, our Social Secretary, has gone to Australia; we had the Chorale late Christmas dinner in Chorlton; and we had the AGM in which we failed to elect a Chairperson.
John Eaden has chaired the Chorale for the past 4 years and he has stepped down at the top of his game. John successfully steered the Chorale through keeping us financially secure, a tour to Belgium, a reciprocal visit to Manchester by a Belgian choir and generally keeping us running smoothly. Our warmest thanks go to John and we hope that he will see more of his wife and his bees.
The new music has arrived and we are getting stuck into it. Our resident composer and bass Chris O’Hara has been testing us with more of his compositions, to be performed in the next concert. Faure’s Requiem is a change for us – we don’t usually sing ‘big’ works.
We are looking forward to the forthcoming concerts in Bury, Skipton and Manchester. Watch this space for news about them.
