Music for a summer evening in Hawkshead
Saturday, 5th July saw us all travelling up to the Lake District to take part in Music for a summer evening. This is an annual programme of events put on in the Parish Church of St Michael & All Angels, Hawkshead during July and August. This was The Chorale's sixth visit.
Hawkshead is one of the most attractive venues we sing in and the weather was glorious too. This writer was even fortunate enough to see an Osprey in neighbouring Esthwaite Water while eating his pre-concert sandwiches! A good omen for the concert. This is what a member of the audience said:
Hello,
I had the pleasure of being in the audience at your fabulous concert in Hawkshead Church last Saturday and managed to take a few photos - hopefully without any of the Chorale noticing and, indeed, I hope, not distracting them either! As a good friend of Dave (David) Robinson it's always a pleasure to come along to the Chorale's gigs - it's a whole genre of music that I know very little about but your gigs never cease to amaze and inspire me - a really talented bunch, to say the least!
Kind Regards,
Al Courtney, Salford
Then later from the same chap:
I completely forgot to say how superb the soloists / duetists (not too sure whether that's actually a word!) were on Saturday, too - simply stunning - far braver people then me, too!
And we enjoyed the concert too - followed by supper in The Red Lion.
