Jeffrey Wynn-Davies
1979–2002
Jeffrey Wynn Davies has an established reputation as one of our busiest and most versatile choral conductors and trainers.
In 1979 he founded the Manchester Chorale for BBC Radio Manchester, and, for fourteen seasons from 1991, he was Music Director of Harrogate Choral Society, conducting upwards of sixty performances of much of the major standard choral/orchestral repertoire. Between 2001 and 2007, he directed the internationally renowned Manchester Boys Choir, which toured Europe, Canada and the USA.
He is currently director of the award winning Manchester based vocal group/chamber choir Canzonetta, former BBC Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year, and the South of England Festival Chorus, which gives major annual performances in southern cathedral venues.
Jeffrey Wynn Davies has sat on the panel of judges at the Prague, Verona and Malta International Choir Festivals, the National Eisteddfod of Wales (on several occasions), and has worked at many other choral and general music festivals in both the UK and Ireland.
He has also served on a number of national bodies, including the BBC Central Music Advisory Committee, and the Association of British Choral Directors, for whose Millennium Convention he was Artistic Director. In 2007 he directed the Association’s International Gala Concert in Chester Cathedral.
